Celebrating Success in London - Chris Hurley

LDC is delighted to be backing the inaugural Evening Standard London Business Awards on 30 June.

The awards rightly recognise and highlight the vital role played by a wide variety of businesses - both large and small - in making London the headquarters of the UK economy.

Ranging from Entrepreneur of the Year to Tech Company of the Year, the twelve award categories showcase the very best of business across the capital, from financial services to food retail, technology to infrastructure.

LDC is proud to partner with the Evening Standard to sponsor the SME of the Year award, a category which celebrates small or medium-sized businesses that have made the greatest strides in growth, innovation and creativity over the last year.

The longlisted candidates are:

So why is LDC sponsoring the SME of the Year award?

Well, LDC has a strong track record of backing ambitious British businesses, not just in London but up and down the country.

For 35 years, we’ve invested in determined management teams who take bold initiatives and encourage great ideas to flourish in order to build scalable, high-growth companies that can compete on the national and even global stage.

In London, we’ve supported the growth of 200 small- and medium-sized businesses, investing more than £600m over the last five years alone in companies as diverse as price comparison site uSwitch, Quaglino restaurant owner D&D London and global managed service provider Easynet.

Backed by a professional services sector that is second to none, London’s unique pool of SME talent continues to have huge appeal.

Which is why over the next three years, LDC has committed a further £450million to invest in the next generation of London-based SMEs.

In the meantime, we’re really looking forward to celebrating the many achievements of the capital’s business community at the Evening Standard awards ceremony in Tobacco Dock.

Congratulations to all the long-listed companies and good luck!
