Having opened their first store in Wakefield in 1997, Card Factory has grown consistently year on year and now operate from over 700 stores across the UK and have an online ecommerce presence.
In 2006 Card Factory secured £25million development capital from LDC as part of the business’s growth strategy.
This programme included the acquisition of 80 stores from failed greetings card company Celebrations Group, enabling it to swiftly penetrate new locations.
The business also opened approximately 160 new stores and substantially increased employee numbers. Card Factory reported a turnover of £216million (2010) and achieved an EBITDA of £50million which made it the UK’s largest card retailer.
LDC exited the business in 2010 in a £350million secondary buy-out to Charterhouse.
