Headquartered in Bedfordshire, Stonbury has a 40-year heritage of working with UK water companies and environment agencies to deliver innovative, low-carbon solutions to maintain, repair and refurbish their critical assets, from drinking water provision to wastewater treatment.
The company also delivers nature-based solutions to help customers operate more sustainably and mitigate the impacts of climate change. These range from restoring rivers to increase their capacity to retain water and boost biodiversity, to implementing natural flood management programmes that include artificial wetland creation and river channel works.
Building future-focused solutions
In December 2022, LDC invested in Stonbury to help grow the business by expanding its range of water, wastewater and nature-based, low-carbon environmental services through organic growth and acquisitions.
In 2024, Stonbury acquired Panton McLeod, the industry-leading advanced inspection and cleaning specialist, adding 50 specialists and strengthening the company’s end-to-end water asset capabilities.
In 2025, Stonbury announced the appointment of Colin Perry-Davis as CEO, replacing Trevor Hoyle who led the business since July 2021. Trevor continues as a Non-Executive Director.
In its ESG Report 2025, Stonbury reported strong progress against its science-based carbon commitments, including reducing carbon emissions by an average of 25 tonnes per month, achieving a 24.9% reduction in emissions intensity since 2019, and transitioning over 85% of its company car fleet to low emission or electric vehicles, while also cutting office energy consumption by 10%.
In the four years since LDC’s original investment, Stonbury has delivered strong growth, with revenue up 74% to £78 million and headcount growing from 281 to 443 people (58%) across 10 locations. The business has broadened its service offering beyond clean water, diversifying revenue streams across wastewater, environment and technology-enabled services.

The next stage of growth
In September 2026, Stonbury secured a new round of investment from LDC alongside new minority co-investor Federated Hermes, to accelerate growth through organic expansion and a significant buy and build strategy.
