As a specialist provider of fire door manufacturing, inspection and maintenance services, IDSL plays a critical role in improving building safety and compliance across the UK, helping to protect people in healthcare, education, commercial and residential environments.
During the two-year partnership with LDC, IDSL invested significantly in its people, technology and operational footprint to support sustainable growth and enhance service delivery. This included opening a new 20,000 sq. ft manufacturing facility in Mansfield and expanding its workforce by 70%, creating new employment opportunities and developing specialist expertise across the business.
IDSL made meaningful progress on its ESG agenda. It achieved ISO 14064 accreditation to establish a clear baseline for carbon measurement and completed a range of carbon reduction initiatives, including installing an 824Kw solar panel system, committing to a 100% renewable electricity tariff and installed biomass boilers that use waste wood as fuel. The company also introduced a new fleet emissions reduction programme and enhanced waste management processes in line with new national recycling legislation.
IDSL also maintained its FSC certification following a successful audit, demonstrating that the timber used in its products is responsibly sourced, and expanded its community engagement through new partnerships with local education providers and grassroots sports teams.
Internally, the business has invested in employee development with a wide range of accredited training programmes in leadership, health and safety and core skills, this included The LDC ESG Academy.
Alongside these initiatives, IDSL continued to broaden its capabilities through strategic acquisitions, strengthening its inspection and maintenance services and enabling it to support a growing customer base with comprehensive fire safety solutions.
During the partnership, the business increased revenue by 73% to £60m and nearly trebled EBITDA, reflecting the strength of its long-term growth strategy.
