Reading's corporate finance community work together to help local charity

Members of the Reading financial and business community have rolled up their sleeves for the fifth year running to help spring clean a local children’s charity’s activity centre.

Organised by LDC, the private equity division of Lloyds Banking Group, the day saw a team of 40 professionals carry out maintenance work in preparation for Camp Mohawk’s busy summer months.

Set in five acres of countryside around Wargrave, Camp Mohawk is a multi-functional day centre for children with a variety of special needs. Throughout the year the centre provides a range of activities, facilities and natural space to encourage visitors to play, socialise and learn in a secure and caring environment.

Over the past five years, the Reading corporate finance community has dedicated over 1,800 man hours to painting, gardening and carrying out maintenance on the site.

The day was attended by professionals from LDC, Osborne Clarke, HSBC, PWC, Snell, Deloitte, KPMG, Ernst & Young, Spectrum, RSM Tenon, Hurst Morrison Thomson and Grant Thornton.

United House Group, a leading specialist housing construction company which LDC invested in during 2010, provided over 50 meters of new fencing for Camp Mohawk which was installed during the day. Fiberweb also provided safety surfacing materials to facilitate wheelchair access on the grass.

Luke Jansen, Co-ordinator at Camp Mohawk, said: “It is fantastic to see that Reading’s busy corporate finance community can take the time to muck in and ensure the camp is in the best condition possible.

“We’re always thrilled to see the same faces come back year after year and, thanks to their hard work, we’re ready to welcome families in the summer months and have them make the most of our facilities.

“Special thanks must go to United House Group and Fiberweb this year as, by donating high quality materials, we were able to further improve the Camp.”

Yann Souillard, Managing Director, LDC in the South, said: “We always take great pleasure in coming to Camp Mohawk and it’s now become an established annual event in the corporate finance community’s calendar.

“It’s great to see people who we work with day in and day out get their hands dirty to ensure the site is in the best shape possible for the high season.

“We’d like to thank all those who contributed to this year’s activity day and made a significant contribution to this vital local charity.”
