We want to grow the business to 1,000 staff, serving 1 million patients within three years.”

Q&A

How has the business evolved over time?

In 2006, the stars aligned and we set up a joint venture with some local GPs and went into primary care. In 2012, the GPs wanted to go back into practice so we bought them out, becoming wholly family owned again. In 2018, dad and I sold the property arm of the business and reinvested the proceeds into growing our care arm and building a new property portfolio. We feel like the business has had a childhood, been a teenager, and is now mature. We’re ready to go big!

What experiences have shaped you as a leader?

My brother was killed in a car crash when he was 23, six days before I was due to get married. We went from having a wedding to a funeral. It was a tough time but it triggered something. It taught me that the sun still rises the next day, and that while the grief remains you grow around it. It’s made me very resilient and I also genuinely care for people. I see the impact we are having on people’s lives and it gives me energy. My mother has Alzheimer’s which has brought additional perspective and reinforced my ambition to deliver services that truly enable individuals to live the best life they can.

Where will future growth come from?

In 2020, I stepped into a chair role. In 2024, I returned and refocused the business back to its core values of “healthier futures for all”, and we have just had our best ever financial year. We want to reach as many patients as possible in as many ways as we can through our services and buildings. Our new offer, OnePreciousLife, launches later this year with a consumer focussed offer built around “the whole person” starting with women’s health, which is an area very close to my heart. Additional services will be added in 2027, all built around helping people live their healthiest lives. In autumn, our OMG Foundation will also be launched, the vehicle to deliver community education programmes designed to address health inequalities.
