Our ambition is to set the standard for connected retail. We want to create something that lasts – built on stone, not sand.”

CEO, VoCoVo

Q&A

What were your biggest early career influences?

I spent 13 years at dunnhumby, rising from Accounts Assistant to Global Finance Director. It taught me to lean into discomfort – taking on significant leaps before I felt entirely ‘ready’ and learning to feel the fear and do it anyway. When I joined, there were about 200 people. By the time I left, there were 3,000 of us and we were operating in more than 30 countries. I learnt from brilliant leaders like Edwina Dunn, but also through close observation. I’ve always been fascinated by human behaviour and what truly motivates people to perform at their best.

What have you learnt since becoming CEO?

I initially joined VoCoVo as interim CFO on a 16-month contract, then became co-CEO alongside our founder, Rob Gamlin. 18 months later, I became sole CEO, and it felt like a really natural evolution. Over Christmas I wrote myself a personal contract: “My job is not to do more. My job is to enable others to do and be more.” It’s about creating the best environment for our tribe of VoCoVians to thrive.

What matters to you outside work?

I love painting and I’m a big reader – I’ve just re-read Jim Collins’ Good to Great. I also support The Brain Tumour Charity. My mum died from a glioblastoma almost 14 years ago, and serving as a trustee became a hugely important part of my healing. It allowed me to do something meaningful in her memory. Brain tumours remain desperately underfunded, despite being the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40.
