We’re a 100 per cent remote business, built on the latest cloud architectures, which means we have the whole of the UK as our talent pool.”

Andrew Kays
CEO, Socura

Q&A

What’s the secret to client loyalty?

Andrew: We’re really proud of our outstanding customer retention rate. I think there are three reasons for that. Firstly, we have a dedicated customer success team, so our customers feel loved. Secondly, we have a really strong culture at Socura; our staff genuinely enjoy working here and that comes through with customers. Thirdly, we’ve built a high-quality service that delivers what customers are looking for. If someone does have a concern, Jamie and I will jump on calls ourselves.

How do you build trust in a remote business?

Jamie: It really boils down to making sure our employees are happy. There’s no blame, no ego and we don’t micromanage; we hire people we trust and let them get on with their jobs. We also do something called Feedback Fridays, where everyone is prompted on Slack to recognise a colleague who’s done something great that week.

What made Socura relocate to Cardiff?

Andrew: I’m Welsh, so I always wanted to build a Welsh company! We moved our headquarters from London to Cardiff in 2023 because South Wales has a strong cyber community, with great universities and innovation hubs such as Tramshed Tech. A year later, we won the contract to run CymruSOC, safeguarding the data of most of the Welsh population and 60,000 public sector workers.
