Founded in 1982 by Steve Frankham MBE as a building surveying practice, today Frankham delivers a broad range of end-to-end services spanning fire and building compliance, surveying and project management, engineering and design.
It employs c. 250 people, has more than 700 private and public sector clients, and works on projects in sectors including housing, infrastructure and commercial.
Headquartered in Sidcup, Kent, the business has historically focused on London and the South East, but has recently expanded to other parts of the country, most recently opening an office in Birmingham – its fifth site alongside Sidcup, London, Stevenage and Oxford.
Expanding support for the built environment
In March 2026, LDC backed CEO Richard Chitty and his current management team to accelerate the business’s next phase of growth, which will include exploring complementary acquisitions as it looks to further expand its geographic reach. This partnership follows Steve Frankham MBE retiring after leading the business for more than 40 years.
