Backing companies ready to take on the world

Earlier this year, we embarked on a mission with the Daily Telegraph to identify 35 of Britain’s most ambitious businesses.

The campaign, which celebrates our 35 years in business, saw us travel through the entrepreneurial heartlands of England, Scotland and Wales to uncover those companies which are demonstrating a standout ambition to succeed.

Some are pioneers with real export prowess, whereas others are innovating at pace to bring new products to market. There are companies growing at a significant rate by moving into new sectors, but the thing they all have in common is strong leaders driving their business forward.

Despite the backdrop of uncertainty, these inspirational stories shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes of the UK economy. You can read more about them here.

At LDC, we have been backing ambitious mid-market businesses just like these for the past 35 years.

We have supported the growth aspirations of more than 550 management teams, providing almost £4billion of financial firepower to help build fantastic businesses.

From nationally recognised brands, such as Fever-Tree and ghd, to market-leading manufacturers like British Salt, we have worked with businesses across all sectors of the economy.

Our current portfolio is just as diverse and we are lucky enough to partner with some truly fantastic businesses. Be that a high-growth specialist engineering SME such as Mini-Cam, or an international video games developer and publisher like Team17.

Whether it’s about exploring overseas markets, scaling the business through acquisitions or innovating to develop a new product or service, we stand ready to help management teams fulfil their potential. It’s a mission we started back in 1981 and it remains as important as ever today.
