Rob Young started tinkering with computers when he was just 15. Fast-forward to 2001 and he founded Infinity Group, a managed IT consultancy. Having grown the business 20 per cent year-on-year since inception, Young had a wake-up call during the Covid-19 pandemic: “Growth flatlined,” he says. “I sat at home thinking about what we needed to build.”
In 2024, having made senior hires and moved into the booming AI sector, Infinity Group was growing again. “I’m hugely ambitious,” he says of his expansion into Europe and the US. “We’re at 200 people now, spread all over the globe. We’ll grow 30 per cent again this year.”

How do you get the best out of your people?
Our number one KPI is people engagement. We provide our people with the platform to learn and grow at the forefront of technology. Putting our people first means we can allow them to do their best work, which in turn we pass on to our clients. We had 60 people coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic and now we have 200 across the UK and Europe.
What are your ambitions for this business?
When we started, we were like any small company, going after everything. Now we work with much bigger organisations and have developed specific IP in a number of key focus industries to deliver better value. We are targeting 30 per cent growth this year, which is pretty punchy given the current environment. We’re also going for B Corp, which will put a rubber stamp on all the things we do for our people.
Why is ambition so important to the UK?
Entrepreneurs always find a way. That’s our superpower. Something drops into your path, you go over, under or around. Over the last 12 months, there has been so much change, but entrepreneurs can adapt. Business owners create jobs, opportunities and value as well as hopes and dreams for people. Business builders give people a life of purpose.
