Q&A
In what ways do your previous experiences shape how you work together as a team?
Bevis: We’re fortunate to have a team with complementary strengths. Toby brings deep FinTech expertise, starting in technical roles and expanding into business leadership, including his time running Imaginera; Michelle offers extensive experience in commercial and operational strategy within software companies and Viren blends deep market knowledge with a customer-centric delivery focus. While I bring the perspective of a former underwriter, along with strong industry connections that keep our approach current and relevant. Together, we bring diverse backgrounds that enhance our decision-making and collaboration, allowing us to deliver more effective solutions.
What motivates you to lead Imaginera?
Bevis: After 13 years in Bermuda, I had worked my way up to Chair of North American Underwriting. I could have stayed in underwriting, but I wanted a new challenge and to move back to the UK, outside of London. It was a big shift, with a toddler and newborn in tow! Imaginera had around 30 people and two main clients, Hiscox and Fidelis. The aim was to grow the client base and build a scalable product. We have now developed a full-lifecycle platform for underwriting and policy and claims administration that is making a real impact.
Toby: I’m driven by a commitment to excellent service. After spotting gaps in the market, I set out to offer a better alternative. As the business grows, so does the challenge – and I thrive on it.
Michelle: I’ve always been motivated by the human side of leadership – the opportunity to support and develop others. Helping people grow in their roles creates a stronger team, and I find real purpose in that shared progress.
Viren: After years delivering for clients, I’m now applying that experience internally – driving improvements that enhance our offering. I understand what clients need and I’m driven to help deliver meaningful, lasting impact.
How do you work with the wider team?
Bevis: Success at Imaginera is a shared effort. We try to keep it fun with monthly lunches with the senior executive team. We take it in turns choosing the spot. It gives us space to catch up and reflect outside of the office. We get on well as a team and respect each other’s strengths.
Toby: We’re working closely to strengthen and deepen our management structure in support of our growth plans. It’s an exciting phase and rewarding to see new opportunities emerging for the team to grow and thrive alongside the business.
Michelle: As a senior executive team with deep shared history, we bring a strong understanding of the business’s evolution. We actively share this insight with the wider team to support informed decision-making and accelerate action.
Viren: As we grow, refining our processes is essential. It’s a valuable opportunity to collaborate, share knowledge, and build stronger foundations – creating wins for the entire team.
What do you do outside of work to relax?
Bevis: I ride and have a horse called Helsinki. It is the best way to clear my head, and my wife and daughters love it too.
Michelle: I love tennis – it’s a great workout with a fun social side that keeps me energised.
Viren: Squash is my sport of choice. I have a long-standing rivalry with a colleague that everyone enjoys knowing the result of!
