Alistair Smith

Alistair is an Investment Manager in LDC’s East Midlands and East of England team. He works with ambitious management teams, helping them to realise their ambitions for growth with the support of a private equity partner.

Alistair joined LDC in 2026 from Pearson plc, a FTSE100 listed business, where he was a Senior Manager in the Corporate Development & Group Strategy team, focusing on M&A in the education sector. Prior to this, Alistair started his career at PwC, where he spent six years in the transactions team in Cambridge, specialising in financial due diligence and vendor assistance, supporting businesses across a wide range of sectors.

Alistair graduated from the University of Bristol with an Economics degree and is an ICAEW chartered accountant.

Outside of work Alistair is a keen sportsman, playing hockey throughout University and currently playing for Cambridge South Hockey Club, as well as being an avid traveller.
