Businesses within the Specialist People Services Group include Driver Hire Nationwide, ISS Labour, Driver Hire Training, Driver Hire Australia and our eServices division, including dh Licence Check.

In June 2011 LDC backed the management team of Driver Hire Investments Group, the franchised provider of temporary and permanent personnel to the logistics and distribution industries, to support its continued growth.

In November 2013, Driver Hire acquired Infra Safety Services Labour (ISS Labour) as part of the business's growth strategy. ISS Labour is a specialist provider of professional and labour services, minor works projects, track lighting and safety barrier solutions to the rail industry.

When LDC replaced Spirit Capital as the company’s primary investor in 2011, the rate of development at the business accelerated, with the launch of Driver Hire Australia, the rapid growth of Driver Hire Training, and the launch of eServices as a stand-alone business.

The acquisition of ISS Labour in 2013 confirmed the evolution of the small company that started out in Bradford 30 years earlier into the diverse but intrinsically linked group of successful businesses that today comprise Specialist People Services.

In June 2016 SPS was recognised as one of the UK’s fastest-growing businesses, based on international sales and was named in the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200, published on 12th June 2016. The International Track 200 lists UK firms with the fastest-growing international sales based on overseas revenues of £1m or more.  

SPS is ranked at number 104 through its Driver Hire Australia business, which provides temporary labour to a number of industries. The first Driver Hire Australia office opened in Perth in 2012 and is now one of five, alongside Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. 

Beyond Australia, we are also actively looking at opportunities closer to home, in those territories that have familiar regulatory environments. There are certainly plenty of overseas opportunities for us to consider. Chris Chidley, CEO, SPS
