ENSEK and BOFA win national BVCA awards

ENSEK and BOFA, two businesses that have been backed by LDC, capped off a fantastic year by landing top accolades at the 2019 BVCA Management Team Awards at Park Lane’s London Hilton on 28 November.

The management teams of energy software supplier ENSEK and fume extraction and filtration system manufacturer BOFA picked up the Growth Management Team and Mid-Market Management Team awards respectively, having both won at their respective regional events earlier in the year.

The annual BVCA Awards showcase the best businesses in the UK that are supported by private equity and venture capital firms. The awards recognise the significant achievements the management teams at BOFA and ENSEK have enjoyed in the past year.

LDC backed the management buyout of Nottingham headquartered ENSEK in late 2017 and has since helped the business to embark on the next stage of its journey, with an enhanced focus on analytics in addition to the development of new products and propositions. ENSEK announced a period of exceptional growth in the first year of its partnership with LDC – doubling its revenues and headcount – and 2019 has seen the business featured in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 for the second consecutive year.

BOFA’s win recognises the huge success the team enjoyed during its partnership with LDC. During our investment period, the firm launched its first European office, almost doubled its sales and increased its headcount by 50 per cent. A commitment to sustained investment in the company’s infrastructure helped to amplify its global growth. When we exited in 2018, around 90 per cent of its revenues were to export markets in the US, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia. The sale to US based Donaldson Company in September 2018 valued the business at £90million after we backed the £23million management buyout in 2015.
