Richard is responsible for leading LDC’s investment proposition across the Midlands. This includes identifying ambitious management teams that would benefit from private equity investment and ensuring they have the right partner to help them drive forward their growth strategy.
A founder member of the management team and Board member of Forest Holidays, jointly owned by the Forestry Commission and the Camping & Caravanning Club, Richard facilitated its sale to LDC in 2012.
Subsequently joining LDC in 2013 he has played an integral role in many of the firm’s high profile partnerships, including Joules, Away Resorts and Neilson Active Holidays. For Away Resorts, this has included helping the business to capitalise on the buoyant market for ‘staycations’ in the UK and supporting high quality acquisitions to complement the business’ portfolio.
Richard’s 30 year career has included time as an adviser, investor and in operational roles within institutionally backed businesses.
After graduating from the University of Cambridge with an Economics degree, he started his career at EY before he moved on to the corporate finance team at PwC, where he spent two years advising on a range of private equity transactions. He also worked at Aberdeen Murray Johnstone and Gresham Private Equity, before initiating and leading his own management buyout of C6 Solutions in 2003, where he took the role of Finance Director.
