LDC opened its doors in Yorkshire and the North East in 1989 and since then has invested more than £475million of equity to support more than 60 of the region’s most ambitious management teams.

LDC’s portfolio spans sectors as diverse as retail and distribution through to technology, healthcare and support services. Collectively, the regional portfolio generates almost £700million in revenues and supports more than 5,000 jobs.

We are committed to supporting investment across the region and work alongside active business communities from Leeds to Sheffield and Hull, and right across Tyne & Wear and Teesside.

The award-winning team, based in both Leeds and Newcastle, is led by Director and Head of Yorkshire & the North East John Garner. The team was recognised at the 2017 Insider Yorkshire Dealmaker awards, taking home a trio of awards.

LDC opened its doors in Yorkshire and the North East in 1989 and since then has invested more than £450m of equity to support 57 of the region’s most ambitious management teams.
A Record Year
2016 was LDC’s most active year in Yorkshire and the North East, with the team investing almost £80m. The team also picked up Private Equity Team of the Year at the Insider Dealmaker Awards.
LDC backed the MBO of specialist distributor, Zyro, together with the simultaneous acquisition and merger of Fisher Outdoor Leisure. The transaction picked up ‘Deal of the Year‘ at the 2016 Insider Dealmaker Awards.
LDC portfolio company Team17 was named as one of Yorkshire’s fastest growing businesses. The ‘Ward Hadaway Yorkshire Fastest 50 2017’ celebrates privately-owned companies in Yorkshire that have delivered exceptional growth.
Mark Beaumont
2017 will see LDC Corporate Ambassador Mark Beaumont attempt to smash the World Record of cycling around the World in 80 days. LDC and ZyroFisher are supporting this ambitious ultra-endurance challenge.
Specialist People Services
Since our investment in Halifax-headquartered SSP in 2015, LDC has been working with the management team to drive its organic growth strategy. This led to a 10% revenue growth in 2016.
LDC’s 11th annual charity quiz saw businesses from around Yorkshire and the North East compete head-to-head with teams nationally. The event raised over £15,000 for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre, due to open in Leeds this year.
LDC exited its minority stake in Leeds headquartered Zenith, the largest independent vehicle leasing business in the UK, in a £750m transaction to Bridgepoint.
PAW Holdings
LDC backed the MBO of PAW Holdings to support the company’s growth strategy.The business has recently opened a 30,000sq m manufacturing facility in Yorkshire to manufacture and assemble its light gauge building systems.
In 2016, iconic Yorkshire brand Seabrook Crisps completed its first export deal since LDC’s backing. The business signed a deal to supply its premium Lattice crisps across the Middle East and India via Gulf supermarket chain Lulu Hypermarket.
