Matt Le Tissier turns out in LDC colours for Cure Leukaemia's Copa del CL

On Friday 23rd November, Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier donned the LDC colours as he joined our team for this year’s 2018 Copa Del CL tournament, all in aid of raising money for blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia.

The 6-aside tournament took place at the England national team’s world-class training facility, St George’s Park, and saw 16 teams, including two from LDC, go head-to-head to be crowned the 2018 champions. The event attracted a range of Premier League footballing legends who joined forces with teams of employees from the corporate finance world, including Sadler & Partridge and PR Financial Management.

LDC did not get off to the best start after handing Le Tissier, a world-renowned number 7, the number 9 shirt – sorry Matt! However, Le Tissier quickly rolled back the years as he bagged the first goal of the tournament.

The Anvillians, who had former Aston Villa star Lee Hendry, were eventually crowned this year’s champions after an action-packed day of play. The day then finished with an evening dinner hosted by Sky Sports broadcaster Johnny Phillips with Arsenal legend and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson making a speech.

Cure Leukaemia is a blood cancer charity that was established in 2003 by Professor Charlie Craddock. The charity’s mission is to find a cure for all blood cancers. It helps give patients access to potentially lifesaving drugs and treatments to help their recovery.
