LDC ambassador and ultra-endurance athlete Mark Beaumont has completed his World Record breaking challenge and has been officially named the first person to cycle around the world in 80 days.
Since he began his journey at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris on 2nd July, he has travelled 18,000 miles and cycled through 16 countries. His journey has seen him spend 16 hours a day on the bike and cover an average of 240 miles at a time.
On his return to Paris on 18th September, it was verified that he has set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe by bicycle - taking 44 days off the current record.
Pete Latham and fellow LDC Investment Director Richard Whitwell joined Mark on the road on day 77 and cycled alongside him from Olite in Spain through to Biarritz and on to Sanguinet, just 20 miles south west of Bordeaux.
Pete said, "The opportunity to join Mark on the road was an incredible experience. He is an inspiration, not only to those in the field of endurance sport, but to everyone who has a goal in sight - be this the sporting or business world. It has been a fascinating journey, and we can't wait to see what he has in store next."Read More
