Specialist People Services (SPS), the diversified recruitment group backed by private equity investor LDC, has invested £1m in its IT infrastructure as it continues to develop its technology-led, end-to-end people management services.
The Bradford-based company, whose businesses include Driver Hire and rail services provider ISS Labour, has enhanced a range of services used by its clients across the UK.
The investment includes the development and roll-out of dhOps X, Driver Hire’s new core operations system. With enhanced reporting and a faster, smoother user experience, dhOps X enables the business to provide an even better service to customers.
SPS has also invested substantially in developing dh Licence Check, the online driving licence verification service, and a set of eLearning modules for commercial drivers. Each system contributes to a substantially upgraded and more integrated service for customers.
Alongside this major investment, SPS has made two senior-level appointments as part of its transition to a technology-led business. The group has announced that interim IT director John Keelan-Edwards has been appointed on a permanent basis as Driver Risk Management and Group Technology Services Director. Meanwhile, Andy Hibbert, previously Group Commercial and Sales Director at 24/7 Recruitment, has been appointed as Driver Hire’s Network Development Director.
The developments come as SPS confirmed that group revenue in the year to March 2016 reached £129.4m, an increase of 11% compared with the 2014/15 financial year, with all areas of the business experiencing growth.
Chris Chidley, SPS Group Chief Executive, said: “The culmination of this major investment in our technology infrastructure and senior team means we are now offering our clients truly outstanding, integrated and UK-wide services.
“We have innovated in response to the needs of our clients and in doing so, we are able to continue growing the business, providing an even broader range of services.
“We have previously talked about a ‘flight to quality’ in our sector and our strategy continues to be based on the belief that our business can achieve long-term, sustainable growth by creating the infrastructure to offer comprehensive, best-in-class people management services.”
SPS has been backed since 2011 by private equity investor LDC. The group comprises a range of recruitment, training and online service businesses serving clients in the UK and Australia.
SPS companies include leading specialist transport and logistics recruiters Driver Hire Nationwide and Driver Hire Australia; eServices & Training, which offers Driver CPC training and online people management services; and specialist rail recruitment, training and plant services business ISS Labour.
