Britton Group produces flexible packaging including plastic film, bags, shrink wrap and converted products.
The company has three divisions, Britton Taco in Winsford in Cheshire, Britton Merlin in Louth, Lincolnshire and Britton Decoflex in Hartlepool, which between them employ 657 staff. Its products, which are supplied to a diverse blue chip client base, include bags for fresh food produce and mail order goods, shrink wrap for multi-packs of food and drink and packaging for the medical, banking, hygiene and construction sectors.
- LDC backed a £42million management buy-out of the business in 2004 and worked closely with management on a growth strategy which expanded its market share
- LDC exited the business in 2007 through a £67million secondary buy-out backed by HSBC Bank. The exit supports existing management and provides for ongoing expansion through organic and capital expenditure-led growth
