Seabrook has been named as ‘One to Recognise’ by The Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100, which ranks the private companies in Britain with the fastest-growing profits over the past three years.
The iconic Yorkshire crisp brand is one of just ten businesses nationally to be acknowledged for strong profit growth, narrowly missing out on a position in the main league table. It was recognised for bringing in a new management team helping the company generate a profit of £2.6m last year, transforming it from a regional business into a national brand.
The business, which has been backed by LDC since July 2015, was also credited for its record of diversification and innovation. In recent years, the company has launched a number of innovative new products, including its ‘lattice’ range in 2014, and increased its retail sales value year-on-year by 12 per cent. It consistently outperforms the overall UK crisp market, which has grown at an average annual growth rate of 4.2 per cent since 2007 and is worth £1.1bn.
LDC backed the management buyout of Seabrook as the business embarked on a major growth drive to increase its market share. Since LDC’s investment, Seabrook is on track for another year of double digit profit growth in 2015-16.
