NBS is a market-leading provider of technology, content and data services to professionals in the architectural, engineering and construction industries.

Headquartered in Newcastle, NBS employs more than 200 people.

In June 2018 The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and LDC agreed a partnership to support the future growth of RIBA Enterprises Ltd, the commercial arm of the RIBA which trades as NBS.

LDC invested £31.8m for a significant minority shareholding in NBS. Together the RIBA and LDC are supporting the business, led by the current CEO Richard Waterhouse and existing management team, in delivering its future product development and international growth plans.

LDC’s £31.8m investment in NBS was named 'Private Equity Deal of the Year' at the North East Dealmaker Awards and the Yorkshire Dealmaker Awards.

In October 2019 NBS announced it is on track to acquire its 1,000th customer onto its flagship software as a service (SaaS) product, NBS Chorus. Launched in January, NBS Chorus is a cloud-based platform for construction specification, used by architects, engineers and designers to rapidly create detailed specifications for construction projects.

NBS has set about moving its 4,000-strong customer base of UK construction practices onto Chorus and has seen strong take up across the board, as the industry finally begins to recognise the importance of digitisation through a cloud-enabled, integrated construction workflow.

It has also ramped up its global operations, with the establishment of bases in Australia and Canada, allowing it to expand the global capabilities of Chorus.

A number of key appointments have been made both in the UK and internationally, together with an increased focus on values, culture and people across the organisation as it moves to become a complete SaaS operation.

We are delighted to be working with LDC on the next stage of our growth plan that will see NBS strengthen its offering in the UK and overseas, following a recent expansion into Canada and Australia. Bringing in a new partner alongside our long term investor, the RIBA, will create the perfect mix of experience in the market with high growth expertise.

Richard Waterhouse, CEO, NBS
