The business operates over 60 nurseries, including a number of workplace nurseries for blue-chip employers.
In 2008 LDC invested in the secondary buy-out of the business to provide funds for its continued expansion in key growth areas. LDC supported the business’ major rollout strategy and capitalised on the growing demand for quality nursery care in the UK. The business opened a total of 15 new sites across the UK and revenues grew by 40% to £41.4million (2012).
In 2013 LDC completed the sale of the business to Bright Horizons Family Solutions for a cash consideration of £52million. Bright Horizons is a NYSE-listed global provider of high-quality child care, early education and other services designed to help employers and families better address the challenges of work and life. The acquisition of kidsunlimited brings the total number of Bright Horizons-owned centres in the UK to 203, with the capacity to serve approximately 15,500 children.
I’d also like to thank the team at LDC for their strategic and financial support over the last five years, which has helped us deliver our ambitions for the business and secure an excellent outcome for all parties.CEO, kidsunlimited
