The Third LDC Charity Quiz

On the 11th October LDC hosted the third LDC Charity Quiz.

It took place simultaneously at six venues across Britain and over 140 teams fought it out to be crowned this year's winner.

To enter, each team donated £500 and all proceeds from the event went to a number of local and national charities - details of each charity are provided below.

Congratulations to Microlease, the national quiz award winners for the second consecutive year! Microlease won 6 x 2 Barcelona Travel Packages (including flights, accommodation and tickets to see FC Barcelona) which was generously donated by The Advanced Travel Partner (www.atpi.com).

We raised a staggering £105k from this year's quiz, £83k in 2006 and £61k in 2005. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who participated in this years' charity quiz - without your support we couldn't have raised such a phenomenal amount.

Tsunami Generation is our chosen national charity partner.

The charity was formed in 2005 and its mission is straightforward, it aims to:

“Encourage and sustain charitable giving by the UK public”

In practical terms this means providing effective information about the needs of communities affected by disaster but also ensuring that there is a platform for effective support during emergency relief situations. Tsunami Generation is thereby helping to shape effective long-term contributions in an effort to tackle global poverty.

All programmes developed by Tsunami Generation will draw upon the expert knowledge of organisations such as CARE International, Basic Needs, and the World Health Organisation.

The pilot project was in Madiha West, Sri Lanka and took place between 22nd October and 14th November 2005 and seven volunteers from LDC supported this first project.
