Background:
Darryl has been Chief Executive of LDC since 2003. Over its 29 year history, LDC has built an excellent track record based on a strong UK regional network, proprietary deal origination, proactive post investment operational value add and a clear investment philosophy which focuses on backing outstanding management teams.
Over the past seven years, LDC has invested £1.2bn in 85 companies. This portfolio of investments is expected to deliver gross IRR’s of around 30%. Exited investments over this period have already returned a 41% IRR.
Over the past two years, LDC has begun the development of an international footprint, opening in Hong Kong in 2008. This will provide significant value add to the UK portfolio whilst also providing a spring board for creating a direct investment business in the Far East over the medium term.
By way of background, Darryl is a UK Chartered Accountant and has worked in private equity for more than 20 years. He passionately believes that sustainable success is built on a relationship based approach and a reputation for being trusted, fair minded and commercial. He is also a strong advocate of the role private equity should play in supporting local communities – the ‘LDC in the Community’ initiative has raised over £1m for UK, regional and international charities over the past five years.
