LDC sponsored athlete Meghan Beesley recently represented England in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. She ran the 400m hurdles and 4 x 400m relay, where the team picked up Bronze however after a failed drugs test by a member of the Nigerian relay squad, Meghan and co have been promoted to silver!!!

Prior to this in 2010, Meghan clocked a new personal best time of 56.65 for the 400m hurdles only narrowly beaten in the Reims race by Tasha Danvers, she also claimed a silver medal in the National Championship and has retained her BUCS 400m title.

With her sights firmly set on the 2012 Olympic Games Meghan is steadily increasing her experience of training and competing at the highest level. In 2008 Meghan claimed the gold medal for the Senior Women's 400m title in the Norwich Union World Trials and UK Championships in Sheffield. She also claimed this title in the Junior Championships setting a Championship best of 53.84 which moved her into second place on the UK all time rankings. At the same championships she also earned a silver medal in both the 200m and 60m hurdles.

Although things are never certain, Meghan's outstanding record and providing she continues her progress, the chances of making an appearance at the 2012 Olympics grow each week. Meghan is currently studying at Loughborough University after gaining two 'A's and a 'B' in her 'A' levels where she will be reading Maths and Sports Science. Combining this with high level competition she will need to maintain a disciplined approach to all aspects of her life if she is to be successful. It will be interesting to watch and support her progress in the years to come.
