The relationship between business activity, community endeavours and personal development is at the heart of LDC. It is embodied in our Charter and guides our activities.
'LDC in the Community' is a unique expression of this and encompasses all of the work our teams undertake to support a number of regional and national charities. Over the past five years LDC has raised over £1million for worthwhile causes by undertaking personal challenges, team events and organised activities.
In 2007, 2008 and 2009 an LDC team has completed the London Marathon and over this period has successfully raised over £300,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation ('JDRF'). And despite the pain of the previous two years a 'fresh' group of 20 volunteers will take part in the 2009 London Marathon.
In addition during 2009 a number of LDC individuals will embark on a series of personal challenges in order to support local charities – this includes swimathons, half marathons, a four peaks challenge and a charity quiz.
Also as part of our tradition of developing and supporting the communities in which we operate LDC supports a number of other individuals and organisations throughout the UK. This includes our Club First support for Scottish Athletics, and individual assistance for Matthew Solomon, Meghan Beesley and Luke Radford.
Our LDC ambassador Mark Beaumont, a world record breaker, is currently embarking on the second phase of his career and is looking to complete the infamous Alaska to Chile cycle ride in 2009-10.
