When You Wish Upon a Star is a local charity based in Nottingham specialising in making dreams come true for children with life threatening illnesses.

LDC's Nottingham office has supported When You Wish Upon a Star since 2005 and has raised over £40,000. This has made a huge difference in helping the charity provide support for many children.

Wishes are often varied and far reaching. For some it is a trip to Disneyland in Florida or Paris; for others it is a chance to get up close to a favourite pop star or sporting hero; some children wish to be a princess or soldier for the day; whilst others would like toys or a computer to catch up on their schoolwork or keep in touch with friends. Whatever the wish, and wherever possible When You Wish Upon A Star will aim to make that wish come true.

The highlight of the charity’s year is in December when they take over 400 children on a magical trip of a lifetime to meet the real Father Christmas in Lapland. The children put aside their pain for one day and enjoy the experience and excitement of playing in the snow-drenched Magic Forest and meeting Father Christmas. No-one could fail to be moved by this experience.
