JDRF

LDC have supported Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation ('JDRF') since 2007 as their national charity and have so far raised over £390,000 for the charity. This fantastic amount was raised through the generosity of friends and supporters across the UK who sponsor our London and Berlin marathon teams.

Each year LDC enter a team of between 1 to 60 people into the London and Berlin Marathons. Each year the teams consist of participants from LDC and friends and family of LDC including members of our portfolio companies.

By way of background, JDRF exists to find a cure for type 1 diabetes. It funds research that will one day help children live without daily finger pricks and insulin injections. JDRF is currently funding a study developing a groundbreaking new way of automatically administering insulin, a system known as the 'artificial pancreas'. This device will not only free children from a lifetime of blood tests and insulin injections; but also help them achieve normal blood glucose control and reduce the risk of developing the devastating complications later in life.

If you wish to support JDRF accelerate this 'mechanical cure' for type 1 diabetes and continue the search for an ultimate biological cure please donate using LDC's JustGiving page http://www.justgiving.com/ldcteam/.
